Teenage Therapy in Indianapolis

We offer therapy for teenagers ages 12-18. We believe therapy for this teenagers is essentially the opportunity for a teens to discuss feelings with one person who is trained to listen and treat symptoms of emotional distress, school stress, mood disorders and much more. In therapy teens can learn to manage their moods. If your teen has been struggling, a therapist can work with your child on specific mood managing techniques where medication might fall short.

Accelerated Resolution Therapy (ART)

One of the special aspects of ART is that when clients replace their negative images with positive ones they don’t need to talk to the therapist about any details of the trauma. This is because ART is procedural, though creative; and the client is really in control of the process, while the ART Therapist is a helpful guide. This makes the therapy easier on the client and easier on the therapist.

Parents/Caregivers

  • Your teen is struggling with anxiety - relationships, school, sports, or just enjoying life.

  • They are worrying more, spending more time alone, or just seems like something changed.

  • It's hard when you try everything you know to make things better, but nothing is working.

  • You want to understand how to help.

  • You want to find better ways to communicate and get along.

  • You just want to see your child be free and confident, feel good, and have a happy life.

Adults

  • You're not sure who you are or where you belong, and it’s really uncomfortable to be you.

  • It can be really hard to talk to people.

  • You can’t label how you feel or maybe feel like you have “too” many emotions.

  • You feel like you have to prove you’re a good enough person or maybe you don’t feel like you fit it.

  • You struggle with understanding your own needs or boundaries.

  • You may let people know what’s going on, or you may hide it. Either way, it sucks and you’re ready for it to change.

Therapy In Indianapolis FAQs

  • You can schedule using our HIPAA health record system- Simplepractice- Click here to schedule! We also offer free consultations please email admin@thebravelifetherapy.com

  • There are too many benefits of therapy! We offer therapy in Indianapolis and virtually throughout Indiana and Florida. Therapists can provide support, problem solving skills and coping strategies for a wide range of issues. Therapists, being objective, can provide a different or a fresh perspective on a problem or situation that you have been struggling with. Some benefits can include, boosting self confidence or improving self esteem, improving communication skills, learning/finding new coping skills, attaining a better understanding of yourself, changing old patterns and developing new ones, or managing your emotional feeling such as sadness, anger or other highly charged emotions you or your child might be experiencing.

  • This first session is a 60-75 minute meeting and is a casual style interview with client/parents (if a minor) for getting to know basic life history and see if we are a good fit for each other. Therapy works best when you can trust and connect with your therapist.

    During the first session, some questions might be;

    What brought you to therapy?

What do you feel is wrong in your life?

    What are your symptoms?

Some questions about your/child’s history, including childhood, education, relationships (family, romantic, friends), your current living situation, and your career.

We will come to an agreement about the length of your treatment, therapy methods, and ins and outs of patient confidentiality.

  • We do not take insurance. Jennifer does take- Employee Assistance program (EAP) Lyra and Aetna. All other therapists are considered out of network for all other insurances. Master’s level students are all self pay and the card on file will be charged every session for all outstanding service fees.

We understand that by not taking insurance we can make ourselves inaccessible to some and that is really hard for us- which is why our offices offers Master’s level internship program with reduced therapy rates.

By not taking insurance, we are also able to spend more time working directly with clients rather than paperwork and billing, which allows us to give you the highest standard of care.

Lastly, in order to work with insurance, therapist are required to give you a diagnosis, which would become a permanent part of your medical record and could adversely affect your ability to apply for certain benefits (such as disability should you ever need it). We believe that not everyone needs a formal diagnosis; some people just need to talk and explore.

Diagnostic impressions are still a big part of our work and how we determine an effective treatment plan, but it is not something that defines you or your worth.

We are able to provide you with a Super Bill, to seek reimbursement on your own if you request this.

  • Our cancellation policy is 48 hours prior to appointment. We do charge a FULL fee for any missed sessions that cannot be billed to your insurance. This is to allow time to fill spots with other individuals who may be waiting.
